Heather Ross Fabric design workshop.....

It has been a crazy few weeks!
I have had guests from Australia visiting me for the past several weeks ...every day I have thought I needed to blog but having the opportunity just to live life with family and friends from far away definitely trumped my blogging.
A couple of weekends ago I was lucky enough to attend another Heather Ross workshop, this time it was a fabric design using photoshop class. I was totally into the fabric design part and not so into the photoshop part...to say I had a case of frazzled nerves at the prospect of tackling photoshop was an understatement. I had visions of being the odd one out sitting in the corner with a look of bewilderment on my face for 3 days. Turns out, I kinda was that person but boy, did I learn a lot.
I have always had a bit of niggling jealousy for those people who are fluent in the language of photoshop...I would look at their blogs and wish I could do that. After completing the workshop, I feel that maybe I can learn to do that!

The main focus of the workshop was sketching out a design, scanning it and then using that scan as the base for creating a repeat design. We used Wacom tablets to draw and color our designs (gadget love!)
My inspiration was a little stack of Vintage Lilly Pulitzer quilt squares, I love the sketchy neon style of Lilly Pulitzer's early prints from the 60's.
The sketch I started with was a little lilly of the valley. With Heathers help, my little lilly turned out to be a mass of lillies.
3 days later and my finished design was more than I could have imagined..
That is a great feeling!
