Paint Chip Heart..

I was pretty excited to be asked recently to come up with a DIY project for my super stylish friend Paula and her fab blog Lifetyled.com.au. She was looking for a project to keep kids busy during the Australian school holidays.

I had been wanting to do something with paint chips for ever and this seemed to be the perfect opportunity. In reality, my purse was full of paint chips from my frequent visits to the hardware store with dreams of grand paint chip installations in my house. Well that never happened but I am excited to share the tutorial anyway!

What you need:- Craft glue
- Paintbrush
- Paint chips or coloured card
- 1 inch  circle punch
- 1x sheet of white cardboard
- Large frame with mat
- Masking tape

Step 1: Start by cutting out your circles. You will need to cut more than you think!

Step 2: Trace a heart onto a piece of white cardboard. The cardboard size will depend on the size of your frame. I used a large shadow box frame from Ikeathat came with a white mat. Make sure your cardboard is around 2 inches larger than the mat opening.

Step 3: Lightly apply the craft glue to the back of each circle with a paintbrush and start layering the circles around the edges of the heart. Make sure to cover the pencil lines!

Step 4: Continue until the entire heart is filled. Take your time with this and be patient!

Step 5: Wait for the circles to dry then tape the heart cardboard to the back of the mat with masking tape and frame your amazing artwork!
